Notably, in his final regular-season outing, Cole set a new New York Yankees, single-season strikeout record when he fanned the 249th batter of his 2022 campaign. Cole picked up eight more strikeouts in the same contest to bring his 2022 tally to 257, finishing 14 strikeouts clear of second place.
