New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole made his case for the 2023 American League Cy Young Award with his final start of the season. The hurler gave the Yankees bullpen the night off, tossing a complete-game, two-hit shutout to go along with five punchouts, en route to his 15th win of 2023. The six-time MLB All-Star selection was dialed in from the start against the Toronto Blue Jays to earn his second shutout this season. In the effort, the 33-year-old became the 12th active pitcher to reach 300 career starts. This puts a bow on his superb campaign, finishing with a 15-4 record, 2.63 ERA, and 222 strikeouts.
