Lawrence Butler seems poised to be the next great Oakland Athletics hitter. Playing Wednesday against the Seattle Mariners, the rookie looked to extend his career-best hitting streak to 14 games and his extra-base-hit streak to nine games. He did that immediately, smacking a double in the bottom of the first inning. In doing so, Butler made franchise history with the longest extra-base-hit streak ever at nine games. He is the only player in MLB this season to have such a streak that long.
