土曜日の昼間試合はロサンゼルス・ドジャースとデトロイト・タイガースの対戦となり、両チーム合わせて6本のホームランが飛び出す激しい打撃戦となった。しかし、この日最初に放たれたホームランが歴史を刻むことになった。5回表、大谷翔平は1-0のカウントで渾身の一振りを見せ、ケイダー・モンテロの投球を右翼スタンドへ運び、メジャー通算200号ホームランを記録した。大谷は母国の選手たちの先駆者であり続け、ホームラン200本という大台に到達した初めての日本生まれの選手となった。

Saturday's afternoon matinee between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Detroit Tigers turned into quite the showdown with six homers between both Clubs, but it was the first of the day that made history. In the top of the fifth inning, Shohei Ohtani took a mighty cut on a 1-0 count and sent Keider Montero's offering into the bleachers in right, his 200th career MLB home run. Ohtani continues to be a trailblazer for his countrymen, becoming the first Japanese-born player to reach the milestone for longballs.
