It takes a special type of player to threaten to hit for the cycle, but to do so while also working to keep the opposition's bats at bay, that's unheard of. It's safe to say Shohei Ohtani qualifies as that level of special. The Angels star was all over the diamond on Thursday afternoon, collecting a single, double and triple on the day, something not done by a starting pitcher since 1987. He had Angels fans on their feet in the bottom of the eighth when his home run bid fell just feet short of going out of the park - aiming to be the first starter in Baseball history to complete the cycle.
