New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso belted his league-leading ninth home run of the 2023 Major League Baseball campaign in his Club's series-opening bout with the San Francisco Giants, a contest they'd win, 9-4. The fourth-inning, two-run longball was Alonso's 155th of his career, all with the Mets, moving him to fifth on the Club's all-time homer list, breaking his tie with Dave Kingman. Furthermore, the blast was impactful, as it handed the Mets a lead they'd hold onto until the very end.
