With teammate Aaron Judge on second, Giancarlo Stanton launched a 459-foot, first inning home run off Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer, marking the first longball of the 2020 MLB regular season. Stanton, who has nine career double-digit home run seasons, including a 59-homer year in 2017, gave the Yankees an early 2-0 lead, which would end in a 4-1 rain shortened victory.
