With the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates tied, 2-2, in the top of the 10th inning, Paul Goldschmidt launched a one-out grand slam to give his team the lead. The four-run cushion proved to be enough to hold off the Pirates, as the Cardinals were able to secure a 6-5 win in the bottom half of the inning.
