Paul Goldschmidt has been indispensable to Team USA at the 2023 World Baseball Classic, and in yesterday afternoon's bout between his nation and Team Cuba, Goldschmidt went 2-for-5 and generated four runs. Two of those runs came in the bottom of the first inning as an answer to Team Cuba's one-run top of the first, belting a longball to left field off left-handed starter Roenis Elías. Goldschmidt's go-ahead homer handed Team USA a lead they'd hold on to until they won the game, 14-2.
