The New York Yankees lead MLB with a team ERA of 2.86, thanks in large part to the consistent pitching of right-hander Luis Gil. The 25-year-old had another dominant start on Thursday afternoon, allowing just one hit and striking out eight Mariners hitters over six and 1/3 shutout innings in a 5-0 Yankees win. Gil joins CC Sabathia and Steve Kline as the only Yankees pitchers to throw 6+ innings allowing one run or fewer over five straight starts. He also leads this year's staff with a 2.11 ERA and six wins.
