Atlanta Braves star hurler Spencer Strider was dialed in on the mound yesterday, keeping the Philadelphia Phillies at bay to pick up his 18th win of the season. It was the 24-year-old's 50th career start, as he tossed seven innings of three-run ball to go along with 11 punchouts. With double-digit whiffs on the night, his season total sits at 270. He trails only Hall-of-Famer John Smotlz (276) for the most single-season strikeouts by a Braves pitcher. His 435 career punchouts are the most for any player through his first 50 career starts.
