The Polar Bear sits alone atop a New York Mets historical iceberg. Pete Alonso has made a career off hitting the longball and that continued Wednesday against the Chicago Cubs. With a man on and his team down by two in the fourth inning, the slugger belted a pitch over the center-field wall. It was Alonso's 35th homer of the season. More importantly, the knock made him the first Mets player to tally 35 or more homers in four seasons.
