Team Korea left if all on the field after their meeting with Team China for the final game of Pool B play, blowing out their opponents by the mind-numbing score of 22-2. In the process, Team Korea set an all-time single-game World Baseball Classic runs record, breaking the previous mark of 18 - jointly held by Team Japan in 2006 and Team Canada earlier in 2023, respectively. To make this monumental victory that much more momentous, Team Korea generated their runs in just five innings of play, triggering the fifth-inning, 15-run mercy rule.
