Only 21-years old, Fernando is still quite capable defensively, but everyone deserves a day off sometimes. Padres skipper Jayce Tingler penciled Tatis Jr. in the designated hitter slot of the lineup for Saturday's game vs. the Diamondbacks, a first in his career, and he did what designated hitters do best. In the top of the first, he cracked a line-drive home run over the left-field wall, giving San Diego an early lead and also tying himself with Aaron Judge for the MLB home run lead with nine so far on the season.
