The 44-year-old Ichiro will not play again this season, the Mariners have announced. Instead, the beloved veteran outfielder will take on the role of a special assistant advisor with the team. The team and Ichiro have not ruled out the possibility of the former AL MVP and Rookie of the Year returning to the field in 2019.
