Despite Team Nicaragua's 6-1 loss to Team Dominican Republic on Monday afternoon, an astonishing performance by relief pitcher Duque Hebbert gave his team, and his nation, something to celebrate. Called to the mound in the top of the ninth inning, Hebbert faced a superstar-stacked lineup allowing a single hit, while striking out the massively talented trio of Juan Soto, Julio Rodríguez, and Rafael Devers. The reward for such a feat? The 21-year-old, right-hander received a professional contract right after the game ended.
