With Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Shota Imanaga coming off impressive rookie debuts in 2024, the stage was set for a historic MLB Tokyo Series 2025 clash. Game 1 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs saw the first Opening Day duel of two Japanese starting pitchers in MLB history. Both hurlers combined for nine frames of three-hit, one-run Baseball at the Tokyo Dome.
