Japanese rookie pitchers Shota Imanaga and Yoshinobu Yamamoto faced off for the first time in their respective MLB careers on Tuesday night. The two highly-touted hurlers enjoyed success in the contest, as Imanaga pitched seven solid innings with four strikeouts, while Yamamoto went four innings with eight punchouts. In the end, Imanaga got the better of the matchup, earning the win for the Chicago Cubs over the Los Angeles Dodgers, 6-3.
