In a wonderful pregrame ceremony held Friday afternoon on Gallagher Way, Hall-of-Fame pitcher Fergie Jenkins was honored with a statue unveiling. Jenkins played 10 of his 19 Major League seasons for the Chicago Cubs, including an NL Cy Young Award-winning campaign in 1971, when he went 24-13 with a 2.77 ERA and an incredible 30 complete games. The first Canadian player to be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Jenkins is now forever immortalized just outside Wrigley Field, greeting fans as they enter the ballpark.
