Nestor Cortes had an incredible performance on the mound yesterday, as he finished his start against the Texas Rangers just shy of a no-hitter. Cortes struck out an astonishing 11 Rangers batters over the course of the game, stunning opponents with his razor-sharp cutter. Cortes pitched one out into the eighth inning before letting up the only hit of his stint on the mound. With this outing, Cortes became the first pitcher in pinstripes to collect 40 strikeouts and allow less than six runs in the first six games of a season.
