After 588 days, San Diego Padres right-hander Mike Clevinger was once again on top of a Major League mound. The 27-year-old veteran started game one of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Cleveland Guardians, a franchise that he pitched for from 2016 to 2020, and worked 4 2/3 innings in what would be a 5-4 win for the Padres. "I wasn't sure I was going to pitch again," Clevinger said, "so this is big." The Florida native touched the mid-90s with his fastball, showing little signs of rust.
