When Tanner took the hill for the Red Sox on Tuesday evening, he became the 15th Red Sox pitcher to make a start in 2020. The 24-year-old right-hander made sure that his debut would not be lost in the shuffle. Houck tossed five shutout innings in what would be a 2-0 win for Boston. The former 2017 first-round draft pick struck out seven while allowing just two hits. Those seven whiffs meant Houck would be donating $700 to the Pitch for Adoption campaign, a pledge he tweeted out earlier in the day.
