Stephen Strasburg fueled the Washington Nationals to an important, 13-4 victory over the division-rival Atlanta Braves with his arm and his bat. The right-handed struck out seven batters in his five innings pitched and did a ton of damage at the plate. Strasburg hit a single in the top of the third inning before hitting a three-run home run later in the inning. Strasburg then added a two-RBI single in the fifth inning to extend the team's lead.
