In an afternoon matchup with the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field, the rookie was on from the start, setting a franchise record with seven straight strikeouts to begin the game. Skenes would go on to strike out 11 across six no-hit innings, helping the Pirates pick up a 9-3 victory. The 21-year-old's punchout total were the most ever by a Pirates pitcher in a start at Wrigley Field.
