Kodai Senga - 2023 MLB TOPPS NOW® Card 923 - PR: 2374
New York Mets hurler Kodai Senga wrapped up an impressive first year in the League with Wednesday's outing. The rookie right-hander punched out eight batters and allowed two runs over five innings to keep the Miami Marlins hitters in check. With Senga's whiff of Jake Burger in the third inning, he reached 200 on the season. The 30-year-old joins Hideo Nomo, Yu Darvish, and Daisuke Matsuzaka as the only Japanese rookie pitchers to reach the 200-strikeout plateau in the Wild Card Era (since 1995). He also joined Mets legend Dwight Gooden as the only rookies in franchise history to reach the mark.
