Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt dazzled on Friday night, keeping a potent Atlanta Braves lineup quiet for all nine innings as his Club claimed a 3-0 victory. The complete-game shutout was the second of the 34-year-old's career and improved his 2023 record to 5-2. "He never quits and never gives in," said teammate George Springer of his pitcher's performance. This was the first nine-inning shutout by a Blue Jays pitcher since Mark Buehrle did it on June 3, 2015.
