Yesterday afternoon, New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso came up clutch in the second contest of a doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies. Alonso homered twice, smashing one in the first inning over the left-field wall; his next homer was belted in the fifth inning, and was a three-run shot sent a long way over the left-center-field wall. Alonso, who also hit a single, went three-for-five with five RBI, providing the majority of the offense for his Mets, pushing them toward victory, 6-1.
