Larry Walker - 2021 MLB TOPPS NOW® Card 777 - PR: 752
Larry Walker signed with the Montréal Expos on a $1,500-dollar amateur contract out of Maple Ridge, Canada, as free agent. The left-handed slugger took that glimpse of opportunity and turned it into a 17-year, Hall-of-Fame career. Walker was inducted into Cooperstown as a member of the Colorado Rockies, where he was named the NL MVP for his stellar 1997 campaign. "I've never considered myself a Hall of Famer at anything," he said. "Not a thing. I honestly see myself as an average guy. I've lived my life trying to never get too high or too low. But to stand on this stage and tell you I'm feeling average would be a complete lie. My feet have not touched the ground all day."
