Shohei Ohtani - 2021 MLB TOPPS NOW® Card 677 - PR: 10175
"Shotime" was on full display in Wednesday night's matchup between the Angels and the Detroit Tigers. Shohei Ohtani took the mound for the 18th time this year and strung together a brilliant outing. The Oshu, Japan, native scattered six hits over a career-high eight innings pitched, allowed one run and fanned eight batters. Offensively, Shohei clubbed his League-leading 40th home run of the season in the top of the eighth inning, which traveled 430 feet to deep right field. The 27-year-old phenom is the first lefty batter in franchise history to eclipse the 40-homer mark and the fastest to get there, as he did it in just 122 games. The Angels would go on to defeat the Tigers, 3-1.
