Tyler came into Sunday's game against the Reds with just 16 games of MLB experience. In 58.2 big-league innings, the former 2nd round pick from the 2015 MLB Draft had struck out 50 batters, less than one per inning. All that said, the 26-year-old reliever tied an American League record on Sunday when he struck out the first nine batters he faced, 10 in all over 3.2 innings of relief. Tyler tied former Tigers pitcher Doug Fister, who also accomplished the feat on September 27, 2012.
